About Me

After being told that acting was not a "stable job" by my school's Careers Advisor, I left school at sixteen and became a production engineer making diesel injection units for ships. I very quickly realised that a life spent talking about valve trains and cylinder blocks would be an incredibly unhappy one, so I went against all advice and auditioned for drama school.

I earnt a Bachelor of Arts from the highly-esteemed Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in 1996 and since then I have been working continuously as an actor, comedian, writer, director, teacher and collaborator.

The factory where I did my 'stable job' moved to Taiwan in 2001 and my school's Careers Advisor has since been replaced by a government website.

Teaching

I qualified as a teacher with a PGCE from the University of Greenwich in 2012.

I was mentored by the extraordinary educator Doug Quinn at Hurtwood House school, where I taught GCSE and A Level Theatre Studies.

From there, I worked on the Foundation Course at GSA before becoming Head of the Foundation's Acting Pathway.  This lead to a stint as Head of the Acting and Head of the Two Year Course at Fourth Monkey.

I have taught at several other drama schools including Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, East 15 and Italia Conti.

Since drama school, I have worked with some of the industry's most respected companies, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, BBC, Apple TV, Netflix, Channel 4, SKY, and Shakespeare’s Globe.
